In June 2005, Suzanne Luken, RDH arranged for South Dakota dental hygienists to go to Dupree, SD to a Mission and teach children and adults about oral health. This year we brought along our SDDA soda pop chart showing sugar and acid quantities per 12 oz. can. The teenagers were quite impressed with the 11 teaspoons of sugar in the 12 oz. glass! At our May Annual Session we also collected new socks to give to these children and adults.
A big Thank You to Butler Gum for toothbrushes and MICROFLEX for donating gloves. THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH DAKOTA donated toothpaste for us to give out. Disclosing tablets were donated by Young Dental Products.
A huge thanks to all the hygienists who gave socks. Our day was a great success!
